The Oriental breed is very similar to the Siamese with the main differences being the coat and eye colour (except for the Foreign White which has blue eyes). Orientals are extremely intelligent cats and have an elegant, sleek body.

Like Siamese, they thrive on human and feline companionship and love to be part of all household activities. They are an alert, active breed with the graceful physique that looks perfectly at home on a show bench. Orientals should have a balanced appearance, slender tail, long body. Their ears should be large and their eyes should be an Oriental shape and of bright, vivid green colour.

If you were looking for a breed similar to the Siamese but without the "points" then look no further than the Oriental. I can honestly say that the Orientals are even more demanding, more mischievous and more talkative than the Siamese.

Consider these points:

Are you able to cope with the vocal singing and talking that an Oriental constantly makes?
Do you have the patience to deal with a demanding, mischievous, active kitten?
Will you be able be home with the kitten for long periods during the day?
Will you be able to afford veterinary bills for vaccinations, spaying/neutering etc?
Do you have arrangements for the kitten when you go on holidays?
Have you done any background research on Oriental cats?

If you have answered yes to all these questions then the Oriental is for you.
